Description

newish character. Already RPed with him a few times though. But if anyone did want to RP with him I'm always happy to!

the only thing under here that might be helpful is at the bottom- the When Drawing Him bit, but the rest is long and not written particularly well ^^

------------------------------------------------------
NAME: Morrigan (title: Lord Morrigan)
NICKNAME(S): Morri
OTHER NAMES: ----

GENDER: male
SPECIES:
canine (something based on a Saluki?)
BUILD:
Long and slender. Long legs, long body, long neck.
FUR TYPE: silky and shiny. Soft where it's short
DESIGN: me

LIKES: being in complete control, sleeping, coffee, sculpting, hard exercise, having nothing he has to do
DISLIKES: water, getting dirty, running, walking long distances (or short ones really)
HATES: his family
FEARS: going back to where he grew up

ABILITIES/POWERS: can shapeshift into a human, rat or pigeon (prefers his canine and human forms most)
POWER LIMITS: ability to shapeshift is basically out of his control. It's tied to the city, and so during rush hour he is very likely to shift into a pigeon and can't always stop it, and at night he's likely to shift into a rat. His canine and human forms are the most stable and he can shift into them most of the time. If he does shift into a rat/pigeon during rush hour/night then he cannot change back until that time is over.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
No much. In his rat form is is reasonably okay at climbing and running.
PHYSICAL FAILINGS: can't fight, can't run far or particularly fast, can't climb that well, clumsy when trying to do physical activities, lacks confidence/assurance

PERSONALITY:
Acts politely and distantly towards everyone even if he doesn't like them, or doesn't care. In most cases he just doesn't care. He is used to subtle indications of emotion and doesn't know how to deal with strong outbursts. It confuses him and he never knows how to act, making him feel awkward. He often views others as being beneath him, and although he is trying to stop thinking this way, he finds it really hard to stop.He hates his family and will be bitter and resentful when talking about them. His accent shows most strongly when he is talking about them. He is pretty indifferent about most things, and doesn't even particularly care if he lives or dies. He tends to distance himself and has no-one that he would call a friend, believing that no-one actually likes him anyway. Appears quite stiff and cold at first. He is comfortable in court life and won't often associate with others if he can help it. He tends towards the sarcastic when he gets annoyed and prefers to mope around by himself when he gets the chance. After his death he loosened up a lot, and is more open and friendly, but not by much. Only when people have gained his trust and friendship do they see the more playful and happy side of him. If he genuinely cares about someone he will let them know, and can get quite protecting and kind, putting their life above his own. He also loosens up, and speaks his feelings truely.

HISTORY:
Growing up:
Morrigan was born an illegitimate son in a noble family. The city where he grew up had a king, but they were more of a figurehead and it was the noble families that set the rules and ran the country. He was born into one of the most powerful families. They acted like royals, and in order to avoid 'tainting their bloodstream' they only married within the family. The main trait that was bred into the family was the blue/black iridescent fur. Morrigan's mother was one of the nobles but his father had been a regular working dog. He was brought up in the family but he was never fully welcomed there. All other members of his family had full black fur, so his exact social status could be told at a glance: the bottom of his family, but above common working dogs. He grew up feeling distant and outcast. His half-siblings/cousins treated with politeness but it was clear that they knew he was below them. He was raised a court dog and became used to the subtle hints and politics within the family. He treats everyone politely even when he believes they are beneath him because of how he was raised. He grew up with no friends, no one to play with and being very aware of the families feelings towards him. This caused him to harbor a deep-set resentment towards them that only grew stronger when he left.

Adulthood:
One day he had a large argument with the 'head' of the family because they found out he had been going into the city in disguise to hide his distinctive fur just to get away. (the working dogs could easily tell that they had to treat him with respect and obey him, but confirm the order with someone higher up first) He threatened to leave, and she called his bluff. He packed up and left, traveling out of the country entirely, fueled by his anger, until he felt he was far enough away that no-one could tell who he was. The entire experience showed just how ignorant he was, and he was nearly killed several times because of the way he acted. He had to learn to speak another language and he really struggled for a time, but the shame of going back stopped him from going anywhere. It was a human city he had ended up in, and he managed to get himself into a human's home as their pet. He hated going outside though, and preferred to sit around doing nothing.

Death:
One day he worked up the motivation to get up and go outside, and was walking through the middle of the city when he was attacked by a pack of feral dogs and killed. He tried to fight back when he was attacked but he had no skill, and none of the ferocity. He died in an alley like any other, littered with trash and overflowing bins, out of sight and out of notice.

After Death:
He still doesn't know who or what brought him back, but he has a hazy recollection of talking to something. He doesn't remember what was said, or what they looked like and isn't entirely sure if it was a just a dream. Either way, he woke up lying in the same alley, covered in trash but completely healed. It didn't take him long to realize that things weren't exactly normal. A couple of hours later he had shifted into a pigeon, and then into a rat as night fell. He had no control over these transformations and was hardly ever able to keep canine form. He was attacked several times by many other creatures as he got used to the new forms learning to fly and learning to avoid natural predators in each form. Turning into a human was a bit of a shock. It took a number of years for him to work out the patterns and get enough control to resist the urges to shift forms. He worked out that the canine and human forms were stable is he concentrated, and he could use them for months at a time. The pigeon and rat forms were more temporary, but it was hard to resist shifting into them during rush hour/dusk. He has achieved a thin balance in his life, and has brought a large manor and hired a few servants, usually staying in human form. Some believe is is a prince from the far south, and he has done nothing to stop the rumors. He has the vague feeling that there is something he is meant to be doing with his new life but he does not know what it is.

OTHER: he doesn't care if he lives of dies anymore but he won't purposely try to kill himself
WHEN DRAWING MORRIGAN:
- amount of blue in his fur varies with the strength of the light.
- Shade of blue iridescence changes too
